Emma Claire Stephens found her love for riding horses in November of 2012 when her grandparents took her for a ride on a neighbor’s horse. Soon thereafter, she begged for riding lessons. Emma Claire started out riding western and competed in a few local open shows in the western walk/trot classes. While she loves to barrel race and compete in working equitation, her real passion is for dressage. Emma Claire’s first recognized dressage competition was in May of 2014, where she competed at the Introductory level. She soon progressed up the levels and in 2015, she earned her Bronze Medal at the age of 10. In January of 2016 at age 11, she earned her USDF Silver Medal. Soon thereafter, she and her partner, Persona Grata ("Moose")** rode the Intermediate I level scoring up to 65% and earning 1/2 of her gold medal.
In November of 2016, with the help of her sponsors, Emma Claire was able to purchase her young horse, De Nouvelle Vie ("Vivi"). Vivi is a 17 hand Dutch Warmblood who was originally imported from the Netherlands. His sire is the great Vivaldi. Vivi is an amazing horse, who is very sensitive and smart....and quite forward. Emma Claire has been learning a tremendous amount with him.
In March of 2017, Emma Claire was blessed with a wonderful horse named Whizard. Whizard was given to Emma Claire because of an unknown lameness. After several months of rehab, Whizard got better and is now in full work. He has a ton of personality and talent. Emma Claire has ridden up to Intermediare II with Whizard.
In March of 2018, Emma Claire began riding her 3 year old home-bred horse, AnotherGoodDream (aka "Remi"). They rode English and Western in an open show, taking home the blue ribbon in all 4 classes. In their first dressage show, they scored a 68% at the introductory level. Remi is already 16 hands and of course, he is a chestnut.
In February of 2017, Emma Claire's partner and best friend, Persona Grata ("Moose"), passed away.
